How funny! Welcome to Bloomington — I hope you like it here.

This summer will be my third in Vermont (I work at a school near Brattleboro). I LOVE it there. You come from a beautiful place!

Landed here during a search for pictures of The Magus front cover and have been enchanted by your excellent writing and images. Just wanted to say ‘Well done’ and so had to smile at the comments on the subject of attempts to finish The Magus. It took me three tries, and each time I bought a new copy at an airport stand! Translating the Latin text at the end totally occupied my mind for months but was immensely satisfying. Since inspired to write and, of course, the book’s influence is everywhere in what followed in my life.
The poem, if you’re interested, is here:

The site’s a bit messy – I’m revising it all during the holiday but that bit’s OK.

Really enjoyed looking at your blog.

I won’t even try to count anymore how many of the great novels I’ve read.

But “The Magic Mountain”, “Quixote”, and “A la recherche du temps perdu” have stayed with me a bit .

Now, I only have 97 more to go, ha ha as if I never read.

    Two notes:

    Don Quijote!

and, what will you do with your MFA when you’ve finished your degree?

What will I do with my MFA? Probably frame it.

I’ll keep reading and writing of course. Right now, I’m attracted by the prospect of a job that doesn’t mean much and that I don’t think about when I leave the office. For a while, anyway.

    About that publication list.
Weren’t you published in Backwards City Review once upon a time? I bought that issue after reading “Perfect Pitch” online. And now that we’re hunting for material to launch a litmag of our own, we’d love to have something of equal (or possibly greater!) value. We’re short on fiction, poetry, nonfiction, writing in general. Drop an e-mail if you’re interested in submitting.
Unless you’re a different Vanessa Mancinelli. In which case I apologize.
