Sometimes I think about how I looked forward to reading your stories in workshop.

I’m feeling you on the whole, did I learn anything when I was there or am I just not remembering it in the right order. I have those moments especially when I’m trying to explain some really simple narrative concept to my students and I can’t remember what the hell I learned about it. How DOES one write a metaphor, anyway?

so, i was traveling with my friend daniel in israel and left him in tel aviv to go meet up with my friend adam in ethiopia. the woman checking my passport at the airport in tel aviv gave me the why-are-you-leaving-where-are-you-going questions, and i told her my plans. she laughed and said, “it is like the saying ‘a woman in every port.’” i laughed my ass off.
